Your Guide to September in Las Vegas

00:00:00

We’re not gonna lie. As usual, August was a boring month for Las Vegas with overbearing heat and a noticeable absence of big events. That changes in September as we adapt to fall-mode with (relatively) cooler weather, the return of festivals, and more sports to bet on. Hope you like beer.

🏈 Kick Off Football Season

Allegiant Stadium is home to big football games this month, beginning with the Vegas Kickoff Classic between USC and LSU on Sept. 1. The UNLV Rebels play their home opener against Utah Tech on Sept. 7 and the Raiders welcome the Panthers for the first home game of the season on Sept. 22.

🌭 See a Beef Squashed

Could competitive hot dog eating become a new Labor Day tradition? Face-stuffing adversaries Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi settle their “Unfinished Beef” at the HyperX Arena on Sept. 2 with an “undercard” by the Luxor pool. Request free tickets to see the battle in person or just watch it live on Netflix.

📚 Get a New Library Card

September is Library Card Signup Month and Henderson Libraries are revealing limited-edition Las Vegas Aces library cards on Sept. 3. New signups are free and the replacement fee is waived for the first 500 people who want to replace their current card.

🌎 Revere the Sphere

If you missed the U2 residency at the Sphere, here’s the next-best thing: V-U2 An Immersive Concert Film debuts Sept. 5, recreating the show’s special effects without the live music. The Sphere also hosts its first-ever sports event, Noche UFC Sept. 14, and welcomes an Eagles residency Sept. 20.

🍺 Drink Up at a Beer Festival

September is an insane month for beer events 👀

🇲🇽 Celebrate Mexican Independence

Feel the spirit of Mexican Independence Day weekend with Patria Mexicana at the West Las Vegas Arts Center Sept. 13, the Rumbazo festival at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center Sept. 13 - 14, and festivities at the Fremont Street Experience Sept. 13 - 15.

😋 Dine Around at a Food Festival

OMG. So. Much. Food.

🎶 Enjoy Music and Art

The iHeartRadio Music Festival returns to the T-Mobile Arena with a packed lineup of chart-topping acts Sept. 20 - 21. Rebfest is on campus at UNLV, featuring art and music in the Student Union Ballroom Sept. 25. Life is Beautiful looks different this year, evolving from a citywide festival to an EDM-focused block party at the Plaza Sept. 27 - 28.
