Here’s a new holiday we can all get behind: 9 to 5 Day, which falls on Sept. 25. (or 9/25) in honor of the late Dolly Parton. The singer had two “9 to 5” hits in 1980 (a #1 single and a movie), which inspired the day, which could be officially recognized in the Tennessee State Senate next year.
But why wait? The entire country is catching on to the idea, including Las Vegas. In a sad twist, Dolly was supposed to perform at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Sept. 25 as one of six residency dates. While she can’t be here to entertain us in Las Vegas, we can still honor the legacy of the singer, actress, and philanthropist with a few Sept. 25 events.

🤠 Head to Santa Fe Station in the Northwest Valley where Stoney’s North Forty is throwing a Denim & Diamonds Party to celebrate Dolly Parton. Doors open at 6 p.m. Bring three gently used denim items for free admission plus a drink ticket. Donations go to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.
🎨 Pinot’s Palette in the Boca Park shopping center is holding a Dolly-themed paint-and-sip 6:30–8:30 p.m. Come dressed in pink, rhinestones, or any other country wear and enjoy an on-canvas painting session while listening to Dolly’s music. Tickets are $42 and go towards the Imagination Library.
🏳️🌈 Dust in the Fruit Loop district is hosting 9 to 5: A Dolly Parton Tribute with drag performances, comedy, and live singing at 8 p.m. There’s no cover, but half of sales for a Dolly-inspired Butterfly cocktail will be donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination LIbrary literacy initiative. Dust is also collecting children’s books to donate throughout the month as well.
🍹 The Rio is hosting a weekend-long “Working 9 to 5” celebration Sept. 25-27 at The Venue. Tickets begin at $9.25 for Faaabulous! The Ultimate Drag Brunch Show, Punk Rock Brunch, and Haunted Brunch while Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding offers two admissions for $92.50 using promo code DOLLY. Five bucks from each ticket and a Cup of Ambition cocktail benefit Storied, a local Imagination Library affiliate that saw funding cut at the state level.
