🍨 New Attractions at AREA15
It's hard not to feel like AREA15 is inching its way to becoming a full-blown amusement park with the recent opening of the Eye Dropper, a towering thrill ride that carries seated customers 200 feet into the sky before plunging back down to Earth. On a less stressful, but potentially messier note, AREA15 unveils the Museum of Ice Cream on July 3. Admission includes unlimited bites at an ice cream buffet.
🏀 A Taste of the NBA Action to Come
The NBA Summer League is back to showcase pro-basketball’s rising stars — you know, at least until Vegas gets a team of its own. Off-season tournament play unfolds July 9-19 with games inside the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on campus at UNLV. Expect to see Las Vegas native and Liberty High School grad Joshua Jefferson, who was just picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA draft.
🏕️ Summer Camp for Adults
The Palms is hosting its own version of summer camp, strictly for adults, no kids allowed. Look for the Camp Palms pop-up experience across the hallway from Scotch 80 Prime, all month long. Enjoy the throwback 70s and 80s vibes while taking part in activities (karaoke, beer pong, ghost stories, and more), while munching on treats like roast-em-yourself s’mores and a bento box of Thai spiced chicken nuggets, BBQ rib tips, fried truffle mac n’ cheese, and chipotle potato salad.
🎭 A Patriotic Theater Production
Super Summer Theatre continues a season of American-themed productions with “1776,” which debuts July 1 with performances on select dates through July 18. The show pulls off the feat of making the Continental Congress funny and exciting, set against the backdrop of the Spring Mountains with seating spread out on a grassy meadow.
🍻 Don’t Fear, Drink Beer
The Silver State Brewfest marks nine years in Las Vegas with a return to the Florentine Ballroom inside Tuscany Suites on July 11. Enjoy all the beer you can drink from some of your favorite local breweries for one price, $30.75. You can also buy a pretzel necklace and other bites.
🐟 Sip and Savor at Milos
The prices are enough to turn you off from the Strip, which is why we continue to appreciate Estiatorio Milos. Not only does the Venetian restaurant have some of the freshest seafood in the Las Vegas desert, but it also continues to serve a $45 three-course lunch special that’s borderline-legendary among locals. The summer-long Meet Me at Milos menu is another good reason to visit, featuring a choice of Spritz cocktails, paired with a small dish (like salmon tartare or an octopus crostini) for $29.
