Welcome to “Dry January” — or as I call it, “What?” — when people see if life gets any better by skipping booze for a month. That’s nice. But let’s not ignore the rest of us who like to keep options open 🍸 So in the spirit of justifying my expense reports at local bars, let’s go over the top spots for day drinking in Las Vegas. Most (if not all) of ‘em have guest WiFi too — in case you need to write a newsletter or get other work done while sipping the day away.

🍹 Pachi-Pachi

I’ve already singled out Pachi-Pachi as one of my favorite new dining spots in Las Vegas, but this quirky Downtown lounge has a great deal involving my two top interests: booze and parking. Find a space in the adjacent garage and Pachi-Pachi will validate a free hour of parking AND cover a free cocktail 🤯

🥃 Good Morning Kitchen

Good Morning Kitchen is open for breakfast and lunch in Spring Valley. Grab a seat at the bar where you can enjoy a daytime happy hour of half-price appetizers and buy-one, get-one mimosas 1-3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The cocktails are a solid choice too, especially the modified Old Fashioned with chai tea and candied bacon.

☕ 1228 Main

1228 Main opens bright and early at 8 a.m. for pastries, coffee, and breakfast bites in the Arts District. And yes, the cocktail bar is active that time as well (although the main bartenders seem to show up later in the day). Either way, choosing between a flat white and a Rosemary Grapefruit Spritz isn’t the worst way to start the morning.

  • For more Arts District day drinking, hit Esther’s Kitchen for lunch, 18bin for a big outdoor patio when the weather is nice, and ReBAR for $10 house cocktails, which feels dirt cheap these days.

🥂 The Squeeze In

The Squeeze In breakfast and brunch restaurant first opened in Truckee, spread throughout Reno, and came to Las Vegas with a location near Summerlin on Ft. Apache. I love the alien theme, scattered artwork, and mismatched glassware. The mimosas are pale (signaling the proper ratio of bubbly and O.J.) and pair well with an order of chocolate-covered bacon 👀

🍺 Henderson Booze District

It’s possible to spend the afternoon drinking your way through the Henderson Booze District. The City Cast Las Vegas team even did it in the name of research not too long ago. Order a beer from CraftHaus, wine from the newly reopened Las Vegas Winery, meade (honey wine!) at Deadwood Meadery, and your pick of housemade spirits and liqueurs at the Las Vegas Distillery.
