Which scenario sounds best to you: 1. A classic cocktail and vinyl on the turntable. 2. Half-price wine for a night on the couch. 3. A tipple and some trivia. 4. A weekend of whiskey and cigars. 5. All of the above?
Well, you’re in luck: these next four spots have all this and more, and they're some of our favorite drinking experiences around the valley. Whether your evening ends with the remote, a bar tab, or a trivia trophy, you're in control this weekend.
And, of course, drink responsibly.

Nocturno
At Nocturno in the Arts District, the only spin you will take is on the vinyl records, and the day's most important news comes from the cocktail menu, which reads like an illustrated encyclopedia. Bar director Lu Lopez created “The Bartender's Guide, Volume One,” which goes well beyond a drink list, with more than 150 cocktails organized by family and flavor profile, plus illustrations, recipes, historical anecdotes, and variations on the classics. Founded by DJ Flores, the candlelit bar offers fresh juices, housemade syrups, and bartenders who can explain the difference between a classic daiquiri and its many descendants. Nocturno was also a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best New Bar.
- Insider Tip: Flores and Lopez recently opened Cobra Clutch, a 24-seat cocktail bar at 1201 S. Main St., where tropical flavors meet Japanese spirits, retro arcade games, and an ’80s city-pop soundtrack. No reservations here: Ring the buzzer to join the waitlist.
Big Smoke
A cigar paired with a nip of whiskey may be the ultimate old-school victory accessory, but you don't need to win an election to enjoy this combo. Cigar Aficionado's Big Smoke celebrates its 30th anniversary at Horseshoe Las Vegas tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, bringing together premium cigars, whiskey, spirits, and food for two nights of tasting. An evening ticket includes more than 25 handmade cigars, plus premium sips from labels such as Aberfeldy, Lagavulin, Dewar's, Johnnie Walker, Bacardi, and Ron Zacapa.
- Insider Tip: General admission is $415, with entry at 6:30 p.m. each night. VIP guests enter at 5:30 p.m. Buy tickets.
Wineaux
After days of political debates, perhaps it's time to revisit an argument with considerably lower stakes: Were Ross and Rachel really on a break? At Wineaux in UnCommons, Monday, Nov. 9, brings a “Friends”-themed trivia night starting at 7 p.m. Expect a welcome glass of wine, themed bites, trivia prizes, and food-and-drink specials inspired by the sitcom.
- Insider Tip: Make the wine discoveries a monthly ritual with the Wineaux Explorer Club. For $72 a month, members receive two handpicked bottles, tasting notes, and pairing tips, plus invitations to monthly pickup parties with complimentary sips and bites for you and a guest. There's even a free birthday glass of wine.
