Looking for ways to refresh your sense of the valley? Here are several interactive maps that parse it along different historical, social, and activity-based lines:

Little Free Library Search Tool: Because I’m a bibliophile at heart, let’s lead with this gem. It maps many of those little birdhouse-style libraries people erect in their front yard. [Little Free Library]

All Business: More useful perhaps for your conventioneering friends and visiting relatives — though fun to noodle with nonetheless — this one sorts by convention centers, accommodations, transportation, etc. [Vegas Means Business]

Growth Map: This Review-Journal database gem lets you ride along through 100 years of the city’s growth. [Review-Journal]

Homicide Tracker: Another Review-Journal online project, this one attempts to track every murder since 2017. I suppose you could treat it as a mere exercise in cheesy titillation, but in fact it’s a heartbreaking tally of the human toll of deadly crime in the valley. [Review-Journal]

Little Bit of Everything: This one lets you sort by a variety of “layers”; I got lost exploring the cultural layer. But it offers plenty of other ways to look at this place we live — bike lanes, zoning, even sewer manholes. Takes a minute to figure out, but kinda fun after that. [City of Las Vegas]
