You need this 🧢 in your fall wardrobe. | | | | ⚖️ Punishment Handed Out in Tupac Murder | Duane "Keefe D" Davis, who’s already spent more than 3 years behind bars in Clark County, will get decades more after an August guilty conviction for orchestrating the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur in Vegas. A judge gave the former gang leader a sentence of 40 years to life. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty. [Associated Press] | | 🗳️ Trump Courts Laughlin Area Voters | President Trump flew into Las Vegas last night and will address supporters today during a rally at the Bullhead City airport, right across the river from Laughlin. [Las Vegas Review-Journal] | - The president is expected to discuss a wide variety of topics, but probably not a new report that says his anti-immigration policies cost the Nevada economy $441 million. [Nevada Current]
- Trump is trying to boost support for GOP candidates ahead of the midterms. That includes Gov. Joe Lombardo, who’s in a tight race for reelection against Democrat Attorney General Aaron Ford. So far, the two have yet to agree on a debate, opting instead for individual sit-down roundtables and other campaign events. [Nevada Independent]
- This appears to be part of a growing trend. For the first time in history, Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS-TV will not host a political debate this election season after candidates in various statewide races were noncommittal, elusive, or declined. The station says Ford did agree to a gubernatorial debate while Gov. Lombardo’s campaign team turned down the offer. [KLAS]
- A recent poll reveals Lombardo can win over voters dissatisfied with how Trump is handling the economy, suggesting the governor performs better by keeping distance from the president. [Noble Predictive Insights]
| | 🏀 Mayor Backs NBA Arena at AREA15 | AREA15 wants to build an NBA arena next door, creating a full-scale 50-acre entertainment district that would be active during basketball season and beyond. The proposal has the support of Mayor Shelley Berkley, but faces competition from the T-Mobile Arena and other new proposals hoping to host a Vegas NBA franchise. [KVVU] | | | 🚒 Should Northwest Vegas Become Its Own City? | It’s a good question to ask, especially due to confusion and contention over which fire department is responsible for servicing this ever-growing corner of the valley. [KSNV] | - City Cast Las Vegas dives deeper into the discussion during the latest news roundup, along with something else that appears to be growing (road rage on local streets) and something that’s not (Vegas Golden Knights attendance). | The Gloom Is Doomed in Vegas |
| | Sunshine, please ⛅ (Rob Kachelriess/City Cast Las Vegas) |
| | The gray skies are finally behind us. We think 🤞 After feeling the effects of Tropical Storm Rachel, Las Vegas is expecting sunny weather throughout the rest of the week. | |

| | | Over the past two decades, the community has collectively saved 200 billion gallons of water. Residents and businesses follow the mandatory seasonal watering schedule and replace grass with water smart landscaping. Golf courses operate within water budgets and utilize advanced irrigation technology. Just seven percent of the valley's water use is from resorts, which invest in water-efficient equipment. In addition, developers follow strict water-smart building codes inside and out. | Thank you, Southern Nevada! Keep conserving. |
