☔ Happy Friday!

We could get a little rain over the holiday weekend — most likely on Sunday or Monday.

A more certain forecast: heavy traffic on I-15.

What Las Vegas's Talking About

🗳️ DOJ Subpoenas Nevada Election Officials

We have readers who get mad when I bring this stuff up, but President Trump is actively interfering with our state’s election system — and there are seven subpoenas sent to the Nevada Secretary of State's Office to prove it so far. [Nevada Independent]

💸 Gas Executives Want More of Your Money

Southwest Gas is asking the Nevada Public Utilities Commission for permission to hike rates that would add about seven bucks to the average monthly bill. The utility says it needs $66 million in additional revenue — without mentioning out loud that much of the funds are spent on luxury executive perks, including hotels, dining, limos, and international travel. 🍸 I’ll Take a Bottle of Anything … To Go

Restaurants and bars in the City of Las Vegas can now apply to sell beer, wine, and even sealed cocktails on a to-go basis. This applies to delivery orders as well. [KSNV]

  • City Cast Las Vegas looks at the pros and cons of the new policy in today’s news roundup, along with a debate over property taxes and — in a members-only segment — the fate of the bizarre Grand Bazaar Shops on the Strip. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

🏈 New Raiders Plaza Rubber Stamped

With no debate — or even a question asked — the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board voted unanimously to hand over $75 million to Allegiant Stadium for a new plaza near Hacienda. [Nevada Current]

  • More Raiders news: Kirk Cousins will be starting quarterback for the first official game of the season, relegating star No. 1 draft pick Fernando Mendoza to backup status. [USA Today]
  • Surprised? You shouldn’t be if you listen to Jesse Merrick 👀 [Silver & Black Sports Network]

📸 Even Now, O.J. Still Goes Viral

I couldn’t think of a better tribute to Gloria Steinem than a story about a woman fooling O.J. Simpson into taking a photo with the judge who put him behind bars. It was shared after the passing of Jackie Glass last week. She was a District Court judge and the wife of District Attorney Steve Wolfson. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
