☀️ It’s gonna be a hot weekend …

Stick with nighttime events like the Second Time Around Vintage Market at UnCommons or indoor activities like Bach Under the Stars at the CSN Planetarium in North Las Vegas 🎶

My top pick? StorySLAM at the Charleston Heights Arts Center Saturday at 7 p.m 🎤

It’s a night of live storytelling, hosted by City Cast’s own Dayvid Figler with “Call Me” as the theme. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish with five bucks suggested 👍

💡 Energy Rates Unchallenged in Carson City

The same Nevada lawmakers who promise to “fight” and “get to work” in all those political ads declined to take action against NV Energy’s contentious plan to change how it bills customers in 2027. [Nevada Current]

  • City Cast Las Vegas explains the new daily demand charge and why we’re stuck with it during today’s news roundup. The episode also includes the latest on a potential Supreme Court battle over Sigal Chattah’s controversial role as Nevada’s U.S. Attorney and (finally) some good news we can use to kick off the weekend. 🚧 Property Failed Inspection Before Roof Collapse

A roof collapse that injured three people last week at a shopping plaza near Jones and Flamingo was preceded by a dire warning. The now-condemned property failed to pass a Clark County building inspection just nine days earlier. “DMs are open” said every injury lawyer in Las Vegas. [KTNV]

🪳 Cockroaches Invade East Valley Home

A rare upside to our dry heat — a lack of cockroaches. (At least that’s what I tell my relatives back east.) But that’s not the case for at least one home near Wetlands Park. The owner is blaming a recent infestation on nearby construction that’s shifting dirt around. [KVVU]

🧐 Allegiant Stadium’s New Plaza Revealed

The Raiders released renderings of a planned plaza for the north side of Allegiant Stadium. The covered event space is designed to be a “front door” for fans crossing over I-15 from the Strip on Hacienda — and will be a more efficient drop-off point for rideshare services. The cost? $158 million, with nearly half of it paid via public funds. (That means you 🫵) [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
