After a test period of free rides on and around the Las Vegas Strip, Zoox will begin charging for its driverless shuttle services next month. The move comes after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued it a temporary exemption, allowing the Amazon-owned company to operate up to 2,500 autonomous vehicles over the next two years. As it turns out, artificial intelligence can actually be used for the forces of good. The City of Las Vegas is now using RapidSOS in its 911 call system to more effectively detect the location of emergency callers via smartphone data.
