| What Las Vegas's Talking About |
| 🤖 No Signs of Life in Election Ad | You may have seen political ads on billboards and YouTube celebrating California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s endorsement of Attorney General Aaron Ford for Nevada governor. As it turns out, those ads were produced by a conservative PAC in support of Gov. Lombardo, believing Newsom is so divisive, his association does more harm than good for Ford’s image. The ads were generated by artificial intelligence, which is noted in teeny, tiny language at the bottom. [Las Vegas Review-Journal] | - Lombardo’s campaign team denies asking Metro police to investigate a large political ad on the 215 that was vandalized to mock the governor’s recent viral traffic stop. [KTNV]
- Polls show the governor’s race is neck and neck with the election less than four months away. City Cast Las Vegas looks at what could tip the scales for the eventual winner in today’s news roundup, plus the results of this year’s homeless count and some good news we can use this week. | | | 🏳️🌈 The Center Goes on a Shopping Spree | The Center will expand its reach and services for the local LGBTQ+ community by acquiring Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) and Golden Rainbow, two organizations that have assisted Las Vegans affected by HIV/AIDS since the 1980s. [KVVU] | | 🏈 Raiders Sign the Guy They Already Drafted | What’s the first draft pick worth? About $57 million over four seasons. That’s how much rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza is making now that he’s officially a Las Vegas Raider. Mendoza signed his contract on the first day of training camp — and already haggled over how he would receive his bonus. He’ll fit in with Vegas just fine. [KSNV] | | 🥊 The Strip to ‘Experience’ Iron Mike | The World Boxing Council is teaming up with Mike Tyson for a new attraction at the Flamingo dedicated to the boxing champ’s life and career. It’s billed as an “immersive experience” — so far all I know, it could include anything from a punch in the face to a little bit of ear nibblin’ or maybe a temporary face tattoo 🤔 What do you think? 📬 [KLAS] | |
