| Is the Future of Housing in North Las Vegas? |
| | You can now own a piece of Boxabl. The Las Vegas business went public this week with shares trading on the Nasdaq. Boxabl specializes in its own version of prefabricated homes (or in the company’s words, “casitas”) with the walls, floors, and roofs manufactured and assembled inside a factory. Promising “the future of housing, folded into a box,” prices start at $50,000 (or $895 a month). [Las Vegas Review-Journal] | | Boxabl went public in a SPAC deal with FG Merger II Corp. These types of mergers were popular during the pandemic-era trading boom, allowing smaller companies to join the stock market with lesser regulation and scrutiny than a conventional IPO. [The Real Deal] | | Shares surged 20% on Monday, then fell below the public entry price of $10 per share, which valued the company at $3.5 billion. You can already see early retail investors grumbling about it online. [r/boxabl/Reddit] | | But Boxabl is a very real business that continues to expand. The operation covers 670,000 square feet of manufacturing space in three factory buildings near I-15 and the 215 Beltway in North Las Vegas. Feel free to schedule your own tour. Homes are shipped on a trailer and unfolded on site in about an hour. [KLAS] | | Las Vegas City Council approved a rental community of 50 custom Boxabl homes near Eastern and Searles. Permits are pending, but homes could be ready for tenants by late 2026 or early 2027. The rent will be $1,000 a month and include utilities.
