🤑 Hey!

The Treasury released an official list of who qualifies for “no taxes on tips” — and a lot of Vegas-centric jobs are on it: bartenders, entertainers, casino dealers, etc.

But this one caught our attention: digital content creators with “podcaster” listed as an example 👀

From what I can recall, none of us at City Cast Las Vegas have ever received a cash tip for an episode (although we’re always happy to accept a hot news tip 🔥).

I think there’s something against it in the employee handbook anyway. But if you insist, please toss some moolah our way in the form of a City Cast Las Vegas Neighbors membership 👍

What Las Vegas's Talking About

🪴 New Apartments Are So Boring

The same Boring Co. behind Elon Musk’s underground Tesla tunnel network wants to build a 132-unit apartment complex that skimps on legally required parking spaces in favor of a Vegas Loop station. Of course, the Clark County Commission said, “let’s think this through,” “sure, go ahead,” with land-use permits approved. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

  • As you might imagine … City Cast Las Vegas has thoughts on this. So I joined the latest Friday news roundup to talk about the project, plus a high-profile celebrity legal battle and one of the most unusual homes in Vegas going on the market. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
Friday News Roundup

🔥 Fire at Trump International Hotel

The 59th floor of the Trump International Hotel was evacuated after a fire broke out in one of the rooms — and was extinguished by security before emergency crews arrived. A woman was taken to the hospital and died. Her injuries were unrelated to the fire itself and are being investigated as a possible suicide. [KLAS]

🙏 Your Driving Record: Safe and Secure

Gov. Lombardo, with his “active” mode on full display, gave an update on the Nevada cyberattack, saying he doesn’t believe any DMV data was breached. State financial information appears to be safe too. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

👻 Vegas Rises From the Undead with New Ad Campaign

If you watched the NFL season opener last night, you saw a new 60-second ad by the LVCVA telling America that Las Vegas is still “fabulous” (and not at all dead), showcasing a busker-free Fremont Street, the Circus Circus valet, and those hot, new Venetian gondolas. Missing from the ad: the phrase “what happens here, stays here,” casino games, and “The Wizard of Oz” — or even a glimpse of the Sphere. [KSNV]

🐶 Help Feed Doggies In Need

The community food pantry at the Animal Foundation is running low on donations — especially dog food — so drop off a package of unopened wet or dry dog food in person. Every bag counts. [KSNV]
