Once we get through the midterms this year, all eyes will be on the next presidential election in 2028 — and the Silver State could play a major role in choosing our next commander in chief. • Nevada is already attracting attention from potential contenders like Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Sen. Ruben Gallego of Arizona. [Nevada Independent]
  • Meanwhile, we’re still politically purple. After giving its electoral votes to President Trump in 2024, Nevada is now one of 39 states with a majority disapproving of the president’s job performance. Trump’s net approval among Nevadans is -17.2% (and -7.6% among Nevadans who voted in 2024). Yes, those dashes mean ā€œnegativeā€. [The Economist]

  • The Nevada Attorney General's Office is also in court, fending off a lawsuit by the Department of Justice demanding custody of our state’s voter rolls. [Las Vegas Sun]
